We Have Arrived

After 2 days and a 17 hour drive we’re here! We drove through Canada and stopped at Niagra Falls along the way. They were beautiful and I couldn’t believe that some idiots have actually gone over them in a stupid barrel. We stayed in Pittsfield, Massachusetts overnight and started out the next morning to finish our drive.

We arrived in Camden late afternoon. It was a really long drive once we hit Maine because we kept going through small towns. There are trees EVERYWHERE, I instantly thought of Northern Michigan on crack. We also passed a lot of “Watch for Moose on Roadway” signs, which made me laugh.

The lady that I’m renting my apartment from is really nice. She has three kids and a few grandkids. The apartment is actually above her house, which is gorgeous. When you walk in you go straight up some stairs and there’s a bathroom, a little kitchen/living area and the bedroom. She was nice enough to provide basically anything we would have needed (towels, sheets, microwave, nice television).

Yesterday we walked into town a little bit. It was a little cloudy and we were exhausted so we didn’t do too much. We ate a Camden Deli, which looks out over the harbor. The server laughed when my mom asked what kind of Pop they had (It’s Soda out here), and asked where we were from.

It’s a really cute little town, but a lot of the stuff is actually still closed right now. It’s really deserted until about Memorial Day so they don’t open until then. We found the Rite Aid and the internet café after several times of walking straight past it because they don’t have huge signs like we do back home. Once we found it, it was closed.

We got everything unpacked and settled and once again I brought too any clothes. We had to use literally every drawer to get everything done. Today we’re going to find where my office is and stop in and say hello. It’s going to rain all day today so we probably won’t do much walking around. We’re going to head to the grocery store and get some food for here. There’s a bookstore right down the road, which is amazing. I’ll probably spend a lot of time in there.

The weather for the rest of the week looks really nice so hopefully we’ll be able to explore the town a little more!
